This gives new meaning to "washed in the blood of the lamb"...

What media did you use to make this wonderful piece?

Tenebrare responds:

Blender and Photoshop. :)

We don't see too much homoerotic stuff on here, so this is a change of pace.

The piece ain't bad overall but the darkness obscures a lot of it. I understand why you did it...fits in with the theme & all. But widening the overhead spotlight just a little bit would help this illo a great deal.

Folbeer responds:

This is a personal style, most of the works, if you look at the art tape, made in a similar style

The heads could be a bit more fishlike...the scales & fins are great. The piece certainly looks worthy of inking onto some triad member's back.

7darkriders responds:

thank you for the feedback

Is it Hunter Queen Veena, or Harlem Pimp Veena?...but seriously, she looks dangerous enough.

Most of the colors are on the warm side. Maybe put in some cooler hues in the shadowed areas for balance next time?...just a thought.

vonschloss responds:

You're meant to think she's just some entitled rich lady, but then you realize you're fucked when you find her sitting in the throne of the guild.

It looks more like "Junior Graphite Mushroom X".

I gave an extra star for the cuteness. The girls will love this piece.

DonaldLPatten responds:

They love them ;)

You caught Skellington's spirit, for sure.

It would be interesting to know what tools/media you used in making this piece.

JazzCat16180 responds:

thanks!, I used old pens, colors and markers I found

This is wonderful.

I'd thought of posting figure-drawing practice pieces too, but didn't think they'd get much attention. Guess you proved me wrong...gotta find a model now.

Did you stick to lines deliberately? If not, then next time consider adding in some shading to describe the model's form a bit better.

DonaldLPatten responds:

Each of these were two minute poses so I only made line drawings. I focus on shades and tones when the pose lasts longer. I’ll be posting more soon.

So you're growing a colony of 'em, eh?...cool.

What substrate do you use, wood chips? Or maybe grog from low-fired stuff?... But seriously, they're cute. And since they're all sold, you obviously make some winners.

DonaldLPatten responds:

Thank you 😊

They're cute... I see you take photos of your work, too. You might want to put a light on the right side so you don't have those cast shadows on one side.

If I was close to Deer Isle, I would check out the school.

DonaldLPatten responds:

I should get a better light set up. Haystacks is a great place. I’d recommend going.

By the FSM's meatballs, I don't believe it! Not only is there another artist on here using trad media, but subtractive technique on top of that...amazing.

I thought I was the only one, until I saw your ceramic happy mushrooms.

The piece has a slightly eerie feel to it. If that's what you were going for, you succeeded.

DonaldLPatten responds:

Thank you. Making Subtractive Charcoal figure drawings is something I’ve been working on since February. It’s a really interesting process. I attend multiple life drawing classes every week to practice drawing and to be making art with other artists. I will be posting so many life drawings next year.

Artist in various media (mostly traditional), craftsman & general DIYer. I make no guarantee of regular posting--work will go up as circumstances permit.
