Normally I don't go for anime/manga stuff, but this one is good...for once, a piece where the subject isn't just looking cute.

She looks shocked. Understandably so.

Nice work. What program/app did you render this in?

smashbrethren responds:

Thanks! It makes me happy to know that even if the viewer isn't too interested in anime/manga they can find something to enjoy in my work :D

I do all my sketching and coloring in paint tool sai but I specifically do the linework in clip studio paint since it has a lot of convenient tools to help clean it up.

sai is a lot more barebones feature wise but it's light weight and easy for lower end computers/laptops (i.e mine) to run, i'm sure those who are a bit more tech/art program savvy could make better use of clip studio's vast array of tools but the learning curve to really master that program is a little high for me (especially since i hate trying to pick up new programs)......

I dig this one...admittedly I'm biased, as I like works based on a single color. Very cool--in both meanings of the word. Also the piece is not centered, which is good. Off-center subjects with a balanced element to one side are more interesting.

CobaltRogueX responds:

Thanks! I'm glad you like it.

This one reminds me of the front man from almost every band from the late 1990's to maybe the mid-2000's... The colors are a bit strong but the layout/arrangement is good.

CobaltRogueX responds:

Thank you! Yeah I improvised this one but for the most part I'm fairly happy with it.

"Lissen, ya twerp. You owe Big Lou 2,000 plus da points. Now eitha you hand ova some cash or I break ya f***in' leg." ...ohhhh crap.

But seriously, it ain't bad but you might want to spend some time sketching hats. Get some images of fedoras, homborg hats, etc. & move your pencil/stylus/whatever. Look for hats that were in style during the 1920's to 30's if you really want to make it authentic. Also if you make the suit a little bit tighter, it would show his latent power & violence more effectively.

TheMiamiDeSantos responds:

yo thanks for the tips, yeah i should had made the suit tighter that's a good comment indeed, thank you a lot. Also i draw with a mouse

So Odoru has green skin, slit pupils, pointy ears & she can fly. Hmm...it would be interesting to see a real-life version of this. What is that strapped to her thigh...a revolver?

TheMiamiDeSantos responds:

yo thanks, well i don't know it looks like those sci-fi space weapons or something, on the original image it looked something like that

Baby got thunder thighs... You like big thighs? There's something to be said for a woman who can pull a plow... But seriously, this is good. The red armor looks fine.

Recruta responds:

careful now, that's how the last guy went

I like this one. How tall is it, exactly?

The legs on the rats are a bit long...as someone who kept pet rats as a kid, I can tell you that rats have shorter legs & are usually a bit fatter (when they're healthy). OTOH you don't want too much realism in a piece like this. F***ing excellent job on the insane-looking deer skull! Also the rats' fur has good texture.

What would really help here is better presentation. Hang up the drawing so it's straight, tape it down if you must, & take a decent picture with good lighting. Crop out the surroundings & this piece would look better.

...I could almost see this as a back tattoo, for the right person.

snotrat responds:

thanks for the advice! and yeah i noticed the legs were a bit off and now i notice why, as someone who likes drawing rats, thisll help alot. also its cool that you used to keep rats. i would like to keep them some day when im done with school. also the drawing is like around 4 feet tall maybe? idk. but thanks for the comment! unfortunatly its hard to get a decent picture cuz this is the only photo i had of it before it was sprayed with this stuff that makes it so that the charcoal doesnt wear away it made it look faded and a bit worse so id prefer to post this kinda bad photo of it when it was in its best condition

It's eerie, which is good.

I assume those are zombies in the distance. Walking through a forest at night, probably lost, & arriving at a clearing where zombies are standing around would definitely be an "oh shit" moment.

artoast8p responds:

Your description is spot on! Thanks!

I'd listen to this album, too...once, at least....

But seriously, this ain't bad. I dig the girl's outfit, though the slippers are a bit surreal. (Was that what you were going for? If so, you succeeded!) The revolver reminds me of the Joker's revolver in the first Batman movie.

One question: why is her left foot greenish in color?

Flikki responds:

Yeah, the slippers are there just to make her more goofy. Her foot is green because she's a frankenstein stitched up from different folk.

Thanks for the comment though! It is a good album, definitely worth a second listen to.

The colors are good; the pose is definitely good..."on the prowl", indeed. But there is only so much you can do on a surface as small as a phone screen. A real sketchbook & pencils, pens, etc. would serve you far better. The grass & trees could stand to be more plantlike. Anyway, she's hot for a furry cartoon. ;-)

Flikki responds:

Yeah, the phone screen is rather limiting, but it's nice for when you're away from the computer and you don't have the sketchbook with you.

Thanks for the comment though! I'll be sure to spend more time with the plants next time.
