Kudos for posting a piece in trad media with Steamboat Willie-style characters. I dig it.

Who are you, & why are you taking snapshots of my neighborhood & posting them online...

Hmmm... The true rating here would be around 3.8 stars. It's good that you're getting some practice in.

However, may I suggest you do anatomy with traditional media? Because it's not as easy to erase/undo (in ink you can't undo it at all), it will train you to not make excess marks & to get it right the first time. Those habits will save you some time later on.

AzraelusGuy responds:

That is really good advice! I got some older traditional pencil works like that one but I didn't scan them ... its true - better to learn in right way than erase mistakes :)
P.S. - I bought wooden figure model last week - I think it may be useful :)

This ain't bad...you have a sense of characterization. Evidence is his slightly mischievous expression & the little scar across his nose.

AzraelusGuy responds:

Thank You! I planning to finish this one someday :)

That's a hot-looking video game character... I didn't know Sheena was still around. She's looking fantastic for her age. I never expected such a radical career change on her part!...

(If you didn't get it, websearch "Sheena queen of the Jungle")

All kidding aside, what kind of assault rifle is she holding? It looks vaguely futuristic...definitely not a G-11. It kinda reminds me of the FAMAS rifle that French Foreign Legion troops use.

Controlox responds:

Well, just take as a reference the rifle he uses in the video game where he participates, Contra Hard Corps, from his concept art, just modify it a little.

Even if it is an automaton/NPC, the concept is cool.

So it's basically a smashed Viking longboat that came to life & kills whatever players come within range?...that's a neat idea. Would pay money to see it in a 3D animated flick.

Lovecraft would dig it, for sure.

This could be a scene from downtown San Francisco, L.A. or anywhere along 103rd St. in Jacksonville, FL.

TheMiamiDeSantos responds:

i wish i could get those references lol, but i imagine some crazy things happen around those places

The last time I went to a karaoke bar, one of the guys who got on the mic had "Crispy Bacon" as a stage name...

What is experimental about the style of this piece, exactly?

She certainly looks cute... I like the varying line width. It gives that hand-inked look.

Zilu7 responds:

In this case some of the "experimental" stuff is not seen on screen. its more experimental process stuff. but what you CAN see is the different INK style brush I used. I was also trying to mimic another artists style so I was trying to extract what they were doing and apply it to mine. Limited color palette being one. Theres more, but thats most of what you can see.

Artist in various media (mostly traditional), craftsman & general DIYer. I make no guarantee of regular posting--work will go up as circumstances permit.
