I like it... Is he a knight or a hired merc?

The guy looks like he could fight Frazetta's Death Dealer...& maybe even win!

Zarbustibal responds:

He is more of a marauder type of guy. Fighting for the sake of fighting :)

"Dennis Mitchell, the budding serial killer"

The piece is reminiscent of underground comics from the late 1960's-early 70's...it definitely has that style. Would like to know how you come up with stuff like this, as I usually need a real reference to base an illo on. You're obviously one of those gifted folks who pull ideas out of their heads at will. Anyway, this piece is great.

If the grim reaper existed & he dropped a tab, would his environment look like this to him?

SourCherryJack responds:

Thanks, I definitely have a fondness for the undergrounds/DIY comics scene. I didn't really use any specific references on this one. The main one was basing the hood off of one I saw on a Macroblank album cover. The rest of the buildings/tree/rocks/etc were all just sort of things I know how to draw, or basic enough to throw together.
As for the last question: maybe.

Not bad all in all...nice linework on the figures. The only problem is the saber that the green-skinned caped bad guy is wielding (?) has no handle, just a hilt & a blade. Also, where's the bad guy's hand & arm holding it? The hilt & back end of the blade are apparently lighter than air while the point is not. Other than those issues, the piece is great.

That's an awful lotta pumpkins! They'll make enough pies to feed Chicago...but seriously, it's good. I'm just happy to see someone else on here working in traditional media for a change.

Interesting. I like the texture in this piece...

Also, the title is good advice. We all spend too much time in front of screens these days.

It's good to see someone else here working in traditional media. Well done but...this is not a professor whose class I would want to attend! Seriously, though, it's good. Reminds me of when I was more into Lovecraft's stories. Now this is inspiring me to reread a few again. *thumbs up*

Love working with traditional mediums, I work digitally at my job so it's nice to switch to paint and brushes after that. Hehe no? I'd love to be in his class if he was a teacher, would be very interesting! I'm a huge Lovecraft fan and other cosmic horror lore!

Artist in various media (mostly traditional), craftsman & general DIYer. I make no guarantee of regular posting--work will go up as circumstances permit.
