Donkey Kong has some of the best encapsulations of emotion in video game music out there so that's real!!! thanks!!
"The ability to remain cool under pressure comes more easily to some people than to others. But it is in no sense out of anyone's reach. In fact it is the first qualification of a man that Kipling calls for in his immortal poem 'If'. It is illustrated beautifully every time you see a quarterback calmly select and hit his receiver while under the threat of more than one thousand pounds of rock-hard, cat-quick muscle only a step away. It's a matter of will. If you know that you _can_ keep your head, and that you _must_ keep your head, you probably _will_ keep your head."
- John Dean "Jeff" Cooper
A fitting tribute indeed. Do you have a favorite novel of Terry Pratchett's? I always liked "Mort".
My only quibbles are that your narration seems a bit fast in places. It could use a slight pause where appropriate. Also, Death's voice really shouldn't sound human at all (neither should Rat-death's voice) but presumably, there is only so much you can do without professional sound gear. The parts where you speak as the great writer himself are the best ones.
I learned of Pratchett's death late...in '21. Even then, it was a rude shock. I'd like to think he would've enjoyed this tribute. Bravo.
Until today I thought the original was by Stevie Ray Vaughn....appreciate the info.
The drums are a bit disruptive but I presume that was intentional. Anyway, it's a cool track.
i did mix it in a kind of unorthodox fashion to try and emulate that big roomy and buzzy sound that the original had as a result of the equipment at the time and the fact that it was all recorded live. it does sound a bit weird as a result but i think the attempt comes across. ty for the 5
Is the merchant in that shop of wonders a Chinese version of Elmer Fudd?
Not bad for a start. What program did you make this with?
A bit more variety in the notes would help...consider what kind of mood you're trying to evoke, then compose the track from that. Maybe listen to a few movie soundtracks first if you want to get some ideas. "Druiden" sounds pretty sword-&-sorcery; you could check out theme tunes from stuff like the LOtR flicks, Clash of the Titans, etc. Also the drum track is a bit too obvious...for a tune conveying magic or mystery, the emphasis should be on the melody, not the beat. Beat emphasis is better for action-oriented stuff, like first-person shooter games.
9h wow thanks for the constructive criticism!!! I used garage band for android. Im not very good with music and did something quick, although ilove music i focus more on spriteworka d coding wich is a lot in itself. Thanks tho!
Sounds like the tune will fulfill its intended function, which is good. What more does it need to do?
