Normally I wouldn't say anything about this as I'm pressed for time now, but I had to post the following:

price per oz. as of Mar. 18th, 2233hrs. Up just over 4% in a week's time

price of gold over a five-year period, as of now

Been waiting for this for months. Finally it's happening... Thank you Mr. Trump, for your flip-flopping with your tariff foolishness.

This is a real-life example: Though conventional assets are great for investment, you don't want to put every dollar you have into them exclusively. This, ladies & gentlemen, is why you should hold precious metals.

The investors mentioned in the article, however, are late to the party.

I would post a sexy animated GIF in celebration, but NG's blogging platform apparently doesn't work with 'em.

DCA investing is the most effective when the market declines. I will just keep putting money in stocks.

I will too in a few days... Still, I'd feel more encouraged if the markets just _dipped_ instead of dithering the way they have been for the last few weeks. Also, the price of gold has risen a solid 93.78% in the last five years alone. That's nothing to sneeze at.

Every so often I'm reminded that you cannot have a decent conversation with anyone you meet. With certain people (who tend to be within certain demographics, I suspect) it's just not possible...one reason is because some people can't discuss something without personalizing it. It's like they have to connect any topic to themselves, with the result that they can't talk about it without getting upset if you say the wrong thing.

No, this didn't happen here...it was in an online community I'm in outside NG.

@ShadenLines
No shit, people in online communities are either psychos or children.

Not me, though :^)

A lot of 'em are overgrown children, from what I've seen so far...or maybe I'm just getting old.

@DeaghlanNG We know what you are...

@ChiralAnomaly When it comes down to it, gold is easier to buy food or a one way trip to another country with.

Yes, two of the reasons why everyone should have some. Ditto for silver. Silver is bulkier, of course...not as easy to store or hide. But it's also much more affordable. Plus, bullion coins like American Eagles & Canada's own Maple Leafs are just about universally accepted as legit.

@CoJoOno
Yes.

Very handsome.

Thank you for reminding me!

@CoJoOno
I think only a few lay investors actually own physical gold. If you want gold as a hedge against inflation than many would choose a digital form, contracts or gold ETFs, because transactions such as these can be conducted almost instantly. Physical gold is much less liquid.
