Incidentally, I'm originally from CA myself. Was in one of the first waves of refugees, in the early 2000's.
oh cool, I'm originally from AZ but moved out here in 2019 for work.
I guess I'm neutral about this place. I'd move back if given the choice. More diversity in geography and culture in CA for sure, but AZ just feels like a better maintained, safer state which in practice shouldn't make sense given the lower cost of living.
